Ammon News - Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources revealed that Jordan's oil production decreased by 46.4% last year, compared to the previous year 2022, according to data.

The data indicated that Jordan produced 43,988 barrels of oil in 2023, compared to 94,675 barrels of oil in 2022, 107,880 barrels in 2021, and 9,714 barrels in 2020.

Jordan signed a drilling and services agreement with the Emirati company ADNOC to develop the Hamza oil field and drill new wells, as two wells were also drilled in the Sarhan and Jafr areas to explore for oil, the report showed.

The daily oil production rate in the Hamza field reached only 200 barrels.

Last year, Jordan imported 9.2 million barrels of oil through the port of Aqaba, in addition to 3.8 million barrels of oil imported from Iraq, under the agreement signed between the two countries, which was renewed in the middle of this year.

Jordan's gas production rose to 6.31 billion cubic feet last year, compared to 5.38 billion cubic feet in 2022.

The sources of natural gas supply in Jordan are Egyptian natural gas, North Gas, liquefied natural gas from the floating natural gas ship in Aqaba, and natural gas produced from the Risha field.

The contribution of natural gas to electricity generation in Jordan is 61.1%.

The production capacity of the Risha gas field is 32 million cubic feet per day, according to data from the Ministry of Energy.
