Ammon News - The World Bank transferred $138 million to Jordan for 3 government projects and vital programs in several sectors in Jordan and to support the economic modernization vision during last July.
The programs to which funds were transferred are the Women’s Economic Opportunities Enhancement Project, the Citizen-Oriented Digital Government Program, and the Employment and Skills Support Project, according to the World Bank data.
The data showed that the World Bank transferred $54 million to the Women’s Economic Opportunities Enhancement Project on July 10, out of the total project value of $221 million, and this is considered the first installment of the project that the government signed with the bank in the second quarter of 2024.
On July 3, the bank disbursed $80.2 million out of the total project value of $321 million, with a financing rate of 25.2%, for the Citizen-Oriented Digital Government Program, which is considered the first installment of the project’s installments that the bank approved with the government last April.
While the bank disbursed a new payment to the Employment and Skills Support Project on July 9, worth $3.3 million, bringing the total payments transferred to Jordan to $30 million out of the total project value of $112 million, according to Al-Mamlaka.
Last April, the World Bank Group (WBG) and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation of Jordan launched the new Jordan Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for 2024-2029 which aims to support inclusive and green growth and promote job creation, especially for youth and women.
The new 5-year CPF marks the next phase of the strong and long-term partnership between Jordan and the WBG.
