Ammon News - Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Chairman, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, revealed the sectors that will implement a unified closure system for their shops in the capital, Amman, starting from the first of next November.
The unified closure will be applied at 9 pm in the winter, and at 10 pm in the summer, while the decision of the opening hours of shops will be left to their owners.
Haj Tawfiq said that the number of sectors that agreed to implement the decision and will start with it is 8 sectors, which are, - clothing, electrical appliances, furniture, home appliances, stationery and libraries, carpets, rugs and furniture, accessories, perfumes and cosmetics, and mobile phones (The decision is still fluctuating).
The unified closure excluded supermarkets, bakeries and pharmacies at this stage, in addition to other sectors such as restaurants, cinemas and tourism. However, after 3 months of the experiment, the evaluation will be re-evaluated and new sectors may be added to the unified closure, or their numbers may be reduced, or working hours may be increased or reduced.
He also explained that if sectors such as supermarkets, bakeries and pharmacies are included, this will depend on a rotation system so that the citizen is not left without receiving the basic services that he may need at any time.
Holidays and occasions will be exempted from the decision to set closing times according to the seasons, in order to provide an opportunity for citizens and merchants, he added.
The unified closure decision will include shops operating in shopping malls, Haj Tawfiq stated.
