Ammon News - Interior Minister Mazen al-Farayah revealed that controls have been put in place regarding the new visa system for Britain (UK's electronic travel authorisation- ETA) due to its exploitation by some for purposes other than its intended ones.

Al-Farayah's statements came during a meeting with media representatives on Tuesday titled "Security and stability are two pillars in building the state," and in the presence of the Government Communications and Government Spokesperson Muhannad Mubaiadeen.

The Minister stressed that, in view of the distinguished relations that link His Majesty King Abdullah II with Western countries, especially the UK, UK has given the Jordanian people the advantage of being able to obtain a travel visa for a small amount for the purposes of travel or searching for work.

Some people exploited this advantage for the purposes of illegal immigration, which harmed these relations. Therefore, controls were placed on travelers to ensure the purposes of travel, al-Farayah added.
