“ Think Green Live Green” Rotary District conference kicks off in Amman Thursday

Ammon News - Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Ali, the Jordanian capital will host on Thursday the eleventh conference of Rotary District 2452 from June 27 to June 29, 2024. The conference will be attended by 336 delegates in Amman’s St. Regis Hotel.
The district conference will be held under the slogan “Think Green, Live Green.” In addition to Her Royal Highness’s opening speech, Daniel Ratsey, a representative of the President of Rotary International, Gordon McInally will give a talk on behalf of Rotary International.
The conference sessions on Friday and Saturday include lectures by local and international experts on environmental topics, including renewable energy strategies in the region; environmentally responsible leadership, the green economy; Environmentally friendly business practices and resource efficiency; the Gaza Shelter Fund project; environmental technology; ecotourism and sustainable Amman. The activities of Rotary clubs in the field of the environment will also be presented.
The Governor of Rotary District 2452, Bashar Haddad, said that holding the conference in Amman reflects the importance of Jordan in the region and the world. “It will also showcase the role of Jordanian Rotary clubs in their commitment to Rotary’s humanitarian principles.”
District Conference Chair Farid Musharbash said that he is proud of the participation of many Rotary members from the region and the sponsorship of many local and regional companies to support the conference and the humanitarian services that accompany all the activities of the international Rotary clubs. Musharbash praised the great teamwork of Jordan’s Rotarians as they worked hard with dedication to prepare for the conference.
Rotarians visiting Jordan with their families and members of Rotary clubs in Jordan will tour the country and explore its archaeological sites extending throughout the Kingdom of Jordan. These tours, held between June 30 and July 3, 2024, are expected to make the trip to Jordan an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.
There are one million and four hundred thousand members in the 46,000 Rotary clubs worldwide. District 2452 includes over two thousand members in 96 Rotary and 59 Rotaract clubs. District 2452 spans three continents and includes clubs in Jordan, Lebanon, Sudan, Cyprus, Palestine, Armenia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Georgia.
The first Rotary Club began in 1905. The Rotary Foundation and Rotarians worldwide donate millions of dollars annually to the service of humanity. Rotarians undertake various projects benefiting the local community in Jordan by providing humanitarian and medical aid. Rotary Clubs have also sent tents and humanitarian aid to people in the Gaza Strip.
