Ammon News - A Frontier Airlines flight headed to Orlando from Charlotte was evacuated due to a strong smell. The plane was carrying more than 200 passengers on board.
Frontier Airlines, in a statement to USA TODAY, said that as Flight 1759 was in the process of boarding at Charlotte Douglas International Airport Wednesday, "a strong odor was detected throughout the aircraft," prompting the captain to issue an evacuation notice "as a matter of precaution."
"Passengers exited the aircraft via both the jet bridge and evacuation slides," said the airline, adding that all 226 passengers who were offloaded were accommodated on alternate flights. One person was injured while coming down a slide, a Frontier Airlines spokesperson said.
It is not immediately clear what the smell was, and initial reports indicate that no visible smoke or fire was observed, said Frontier.
"We extend our sincere apologies and concern for those who were impacted and are investigating the cause of the incident," Frontier Airlines said.
