Ammon News - The Italian Embassy and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) are glad to announce the 8th edition of the Italian Design Day (IDD24) in Amman.
The Italian Design Day offers an impressive program of promotional events all over the world, promoted by the network of Embassies, Consulates, Italian Cultural Institutes and ITA Offices.
The overarching theme of this year's IDD is “Manufacturing value: inclusiveness, innovation and sustainability”, with a strong emphasis on the production process, which leads to the creation of industrial design objects that are "beautiful" from an aesthetic point of view, but also have elevated "material" value.
The Italian Design Day in Amman was inaugurated yesterday, 18 March, jointly by the Italian Embassy, ITA Amman and the School of Arts and Design at Jordan University with a seminar entitled "Home, the Italian Way" held by Professor Luca Molinari from Università della Campania "L. Vanvitelli", with thirty years' experience in university education and architectural research, curatorship, publishing, and consulting. After the seminar, at the presence of the Italian Ambassador, H.E. Luciano Pezzotti, the Professor inaugurated at the gallery of the School of Arts and Design the “100 Vases” exhibition, designed to respond to some of the central themes of IDD, innovation and sustainability and, above all, the 'Italian peculiarity'.
Besides the exhibition, two UNIDO projects funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation AICS Amman were also presented: "Creative Jordan" whose aim is to support the textile value chain to create employment and economic opportunities in Jordan, and "LevelUP", aiming at creating job opportunities for women and youth – including through self-employment – and supporting the inclusive and sustainable industrial development of the Country.
Some of the jewellery created by jewellery designer Dana Alrousan were also showcased.
The main showrooms in Amman, with the most well-known Italian furniture and lighting brands, have joined IDD24 and will offer discounts in the week from 19 to 25 March 2024.
