Ammon News - Police in Italy have stopped what is believed to be one of the oldest traffic offenders of all time with no driving licence, no insurance, but a proud 103 year-old, reported German news agency (dpa).

The pensioner, born in 1920, was driving her car in the centre of the small northern Italian town of Bondeno in the middle of the night, authorities said yesterday (March 13).

She attracted attention because she was driving quickly but repeatedly through the same streets at around 1am (0000 GMT).

During the check, a police patrol discovered that her driving licence had been expired for two years.

In addition, the old lady no longer had insurance for her car. As a result, the vehicle was confiscated and taken away by a tow truck.

The woman herself was taken home by the police.

According to her own account, she had set off to visit friends out of town.
