GFJTU's head restrained, Trade Union Municipalities president and 3 others arrested, IACC says

Ammon News - The Public Prosecutor of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC) decided to restrain the head of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU) from managing the union, in addition to restraining him as the head of the General Trade Union of Worker in Private Education, seizing his movable and immovable assets, and preventing him from traveling.
He also decided to restrain the president of the Trade Union of Workers in Municipalities and its treasurer, as they are the authorized disbursers, in addition to the arrest of two liaison officers who were appointed by the Greater Amman Municipality to be part of the management committee of the Social Services Fund affiliated with the Municipalities Union, and to seize their funds and prevent them from traveling.
In the details, it became clear in the case that the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission had previously referred to the Public Prosecution earlier after it appointed an auditor for this purpose. It was found that there were financial transgressions amounting to JD4 million and 282 thousand, as well as administrative and legal transgressions that required their referral to the judiciary.
The Public Prosecutor of Integrity and Anti-Corruption charged the detainees with the felony of job exploitation, the felony of embezzlement, the felony of embezzlement by forgery, the felony of falsifying the elections of the administrative body of the Trade Union of Workers in Municipalities, and the felony of falsifying the minutes of the administrative body, while he did not take a decision to arrest the president of the union due to his old age and illness, according to approved medical reports he submitted.
