To achieve this, it was imperative to open the port of Ashdod, a direct land route from Jordan and all the crossing points, Macron said.

The President of the Republic expressed France's firm opposition to an Israeli offensive in Rafah, which could only lead to a humanitarian disaster of a new magnitude, as well as to any forced displacement of populations, which would constitute violations of international humanitarian law and create a further risk of regional escalation, according to a statement by the Élysée Palace.

Macron stressed the extreme urgency of concluding, without further delay, an agreement on a ceasefire that would finally guarantee the protection of all civilians and the massive entry of emergency aid. The human toll and the humanitarian situation were intolerable and the Israeli operations had to stop.

He also reiterated their condemnation of Israel's settlement policy and called for the dismantling of outposts, which are illegal even under Israeli law.
