Ammon News - The Jordan Meteorological Department forecast that Wednesday will witness cold weather with partially cloudy to cloudy skies accompanied by rain showers in the north, central, and parts of the southwestern regions.

As evening approaches, the likelihood of rain diminishes, and clouds gradually disperse. However, fog formation is anticipated over the highlands and plains during the night.

Additionally, the weather service has issued crucial warnings regarding potential road hazards across Jordan, urging motorists to exercise extreme caution, particularly in areas experiencing precipitation, as slippery conditions are likely to prevail.

The risk of reduced horizontal visibility is anticipated over mountainous terrains and plains due to fog and low-level clouds. Furthermore, there is a risk of flash floods in valleys and low-laying areas in the north.

Moving into Thursday, the weather will remain chilly with partial cloud cover across most areas. There is a chance of light rain showers in the north, while winds will be moderate in the southwest. The winds will be southwesterly, maintaining a moderate speed.

By the early hours of Friday, a powerful cold air mass, accompanied by abundant moisture, will impact the kingdom as a low-pressure system settles over Cyprus. Consequently, a slight decrease in temperatures is anticipated, with very cold, cloudy, and rainy conditions prevailing in most areas.

Heavy downpours, thunder, and hail are expected in certain regions, posing the risk of flooding in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea region.
Active northwesterly winds will gust up to 60 km/h, stirring up dust storms in the Badia region.

Today’s peak temperatures will be between 8 and 12 degrees Celsius in Amman and various highlands throughout the Kingdom, with lows of 5C or even 3C in the southern highlands at night. The Gulf city of Aqaba will have moderate weather, with highs of 22C and lows of 12C. Petra
