The US Ambassador to Amman, Yael Lambert, praised the role of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Jordan in providing vital humanitarian aid in Gaza.

"We are so grateful to His Majesty King Abdullah II and Jordan’s leadership in providing vital humanitarian assistant to civilians in Gaza and the United States will continue to work to do the same," Lambert said during signing the annual United States grant agreement to bolster the national budget, totaling $845.1 million.

"I want to acknowledge what a difficult and somber time due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, and recognize the terrible human toll that this conflict is taking on innocent men, women and children," she said.

The Ambassador stated also: "In terms of the agreement that was signed today, this is the first cash transfer under the historic seven year over $10 billion Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two governments last year."

"The magnitude and length of this Memorandum of Understanding reflects the strategic importance of the U.S. Jordan partnership to both of our countries," she noted.

"U.S. assistances including this $845.1 million cash transfer, demonstrates the deep and enduring commitment of the United States to the Jordanian people, and it supports Jordan's homegrown reforms, aimed at reaching ambitious job, creation goals, providing steady financial footing for the country, strengthening the private sector as a primary engine of the economy, and helping to mitigate the water crisis that is so exacerbated by climate change," Lambert added.
