Aqaba court decides to auction controversial ship

Ammon News - AQABA (Petra) - The Aqaba Court of First Instance has concluded the case of the ship, “Halina”, by deciding to sell the vessel at an auction.

Seized in August 2008 along with nine crew members on board, the ship was carrying 24,000 tonnes of contaminated corn that were imported by a local merchant.

At the time, the committee entrusted with checking on the validity of the corn decided to allow 19,000 tonnes to enter the local market.
