Humanitarian truce enters final day, there are efforts to extend it

27-11-2023 09:40 AM

Ammon News - A four-day truce between Israel and Hamas entered its final 24 hours on Monday.

The pause that began Friday has seen dozens of hostages held by Hamas freed, with more than 100 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel in return.

The Al-Qassam Brigades confirmed the handover of 13 Israeli hostages, 3 Thai hostages, and a Russian hostage to the Red Cross, as part of the third phase of the exchange.

Hours after Al-Qassam released a third batch of hostages, the Israeli Prison Administration Authority announced the release of 39 Palestinian prisoners, all of them children.

A source familiar with the mediation between Israel and Hamas, saying that the mediators hope to extend the current truce in Gaza for an additional four days, during which between 40 and 50 "Israeli" hostages, women and children, will be released, according to the Wall Street Journal.
