Former Prime Minister Marouf al Bakhit passes away

Ammon News - Former Prime Minister Marouf al Bakhit has died on Saturday, at the age of 78.

He was born in Mahes city in 1945. He was assigned to form his first government in 2005 and the second in 2011.

He joined the Jordanian Armed Forces in 1964 and was retired in 1999.

He served as Ambassador Extraordinary of the Kingdom to Turkey in 2002, and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Kingdom to Israel in 2005, and he was a member and rapporteur of the Supreme Steering Committee and General Coordinator of the Middle East Peace Process in 1999.

Al Bakhit served in several positions, including Director of the Office of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Vice President of Mu'tah University for Military Affairs, Director of National Security, and Member of the Senate for several terms.
