PM visits Wadi Rum Visitors Center

Ammon News - Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Wednesday visited Wadi Rum Visitors Center, as part of his ongoing field visits to check on service and development institutions and destinations in various governorates of the Kingdom.

The Prime Minister chaired a meeting to highlight tourism and service development projects in the Wadi Rum area. The meeting included Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Makram Al-Qaisi, Chief Commissioner of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Nayef Al-Fayez, Aqaba Governor, Khaled Al-Hajjaj, and a number of officials.

During the meeting, Khasawneh called for shifting towards the quick implementation phase of projects included in the comprehensive plan to develop Wadi Rum, in implementation of directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, during their visit to the Wadi Rum Visitor Center early this year.

Khasawneh gave directions to remove all obstacles to the implementation of some of the projects included in the Wadi Rum development plan, stressing the need for implementing tangible and positive changes in services provided to tourists as soon as possible.

The Prime Minister underlined the importance of completing projects to develop the Wadi Rum area, which would contribute to providing an integrated tourism products that would reflect on the area, the national economy, and the development of local communities.

Minister Al-Qaisi, in turn, briefed the meeting on the Wadi Rum development plan and its measures that would improve the tourism and service landscape in the area, and reflect positively on attracting tourists and serving the local community.

ASEZA Chief Commissioner also gave a briefing on the projects included in the Wadi Rum development plan, highlighting time periods for their completion and key requirements and needs required to complete them on time.
