Effect of heatwave continues on Kingdom Saturday

Ammon News - Heat wave is set to continue its effect on the Kingdom on Saturday, as hot weather ravages mountainous heights and plains, and sweltering conditions hit Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

The JMD warns of the danger of direct exposure to sunlight at peak times for a long time, adding that children shouldn't be left unattended inside closed vehicles, referring to possibility of low horizontal visibility due to dust in the desert areas.

According to the JMD report, a slight drop in temperature is forecast on Sunday, as generally hot weather prevails nationwide.

On Monday, a slight increase in mercury is anticipated and the weather will be hot over the hilltops and plains, and sizzling conditions hit the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

Today, mercury in the capital Amman will hit a high of 39 degrees Celsius and a low of 21C, while the port city of Aqaba will see a sweltering 42C, sliding to 29C at night.
