Interior minister talks electoral district modernisation system

Ammon News - Interior Minister Mazen Faraya said Tuesaday that a committee was formed from all parties and different groups of society and made recommendations for an elections law that was approved by the Cabinet and the parliament.

In an interview on the Al-Mamlaka TV, Faraya explained how electoral constituencies would be divided based on demographics in terms of population and geographical distribution, development and the extent of social communication in various regions, while preserving the programmatic political feature of the election.

He added that, according to the new law, Jordanians would vote based on where they live and not according to where their ID states they are from, meaning that the electricians would take place according to the place of residence "in a real sense," and the place of residence would be determined by specialised committees.

On Monday, the Council of Ministers approved the electoral district system for 2023.
