Ammon News - A heat wave is forecast to affect the Kingdom Saturday, triggering a "significant" rise in temperatures, to become 7-9 degrees Celsius higher than their seasonal averages, Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

A searing atmosphere hits all the Kingdom's regions with appearance of clouds at high altitudes, and southeasterly moderate winds, sometimes causing dust, especially in the desert regions.

In its report, the JMD warns of the danger of low horizontal visibility due to dust, especially in the desert areas, and risk of direct exposure to sunlight for a long time, adding that children and the elderly shouldn't be left inside closed vehicles.

The JMD also warned of leaving sterilizers, perfumes and flammable materials inside vehicles.

According to the JMD report, the Kingdom will remain Sunday, under influence of the hot spell and the weather will continue to be sizzling in all regions.

Moreover, light showers of rain are possibly forecast for a short period, especially in the Kingdom's southwest.

On Monday, temperatures will drop slightly, and the weather will be hot almost countrywide and sweltering in the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.

Today, mercury in the capital Amman will hit a high of 42 degrees Celsius and a low of 26C, while the port city of Aqaba will see a scorching 45C, sliding to 31C at night.
