Ammon News - A Cabinet session held Sunday, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, approved a bylaw of employee formations for ministries, government departments and units for the fiscal year 2023.

The regulation aims to define employee formations of ministries, public departments and units, jobs number, categories, and ranks, whose allocations are set in the general budget laws.

On the other hand, the Council of Ministers decided to exempt locomotive trucks, which are intended to be imported by individuals and companies, for modernization replacements, from the general sales tax collected for this purpose at a rate of 16%.

The Council also decided to exempt electric-powered trucks that are allowed to be imported, from the special tax imposed according to provisions of Paragraph (5/c) of Article No. (3) of the Special Tax Law No. (80) for 2000.

This tax is estimated at 10% on vehicles designed to be entirely electric-powered and not exceeding 250 kilowatts, and 15% on fully electric-run vehicles and exceeding 250 kilowatts.

The exemptions are valid for a 1-year period from the date of issuing this decision, provided that companies are granted an additional year to benefit from this Cabinet move.

Moreover, the decision launched a mechanism to compensate owners of trucks that were imported and cleared for the purpose of modernization replacements.

This step aims to achieve the principle of justice and equality among all the sector's workers, provided that the Jordanian Customs Department and Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) develop this mechanism, in accordance with the legislation in force, and submit it to the Cabinet for approval.

The decision comes to stimulate truck owners, both individuals and companies, to replace their trucks for modernization purposes.

The Council of Ministers also decided to approve extension of the implementation of its previous decision issued on 4/9/2023, related to procedures for regulating the labor market and transfer among different sectors for non-Jordanian workers for a 2-month period only, starting from the date 8/2/2023, and as a final ultimatum.
