Jordan increases daily imports of Iraqi crude oil to 15,000 barrels

06-08-2023 01:37 PM

Ammon News - Jordan has increased its imports of Iraqi crude oil from 10,000 to 15,000 barrels per day, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Director of the Oil and Gas Directorate at the ministry, Iman Awwad, on Sunday, announced that Iraq agreed to increase its exports of petrol to Jordan starting August 2023. The same contractual terms contained in the memorandum of understanding signed between the Jordanian and Iraqi governments in May will apply.

Awwad added that the Kirkuk Field in Iraq will now ship 450,000 barrels a month, up from 300,000, to the Jordan Petroleum Refinery in Zarqa.

This increase in Iraqi oil imports was agreed upon during the Prime Minister's visit to Baghdad on July 24.
