Khasawneh talks with university students, young activists

Ammon News - Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh has had dialogues with Jordanian youth under the title, "Visions of Modernisation: Youth are the Focus of Concern," during the second dialogue meeting held Saturday at Mutah University in Karak.

During the meeting, which was devoted to university students, youth, and representatives of national initiatives from the south, Khasawneh said that youth are the "millstone" of the three paths of modernisation: political, economic, and administrative led by His Majesty King Abdullah II and HRH Crown Prince Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II.

He added that the wager in this comprehensive modernisation project and the engine of change are the youth, "on whom we also bet to provide a vital model that will steadily guide the Jordanian state in its second centenary."

"His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, are leading the comprehensive modernisation project that began with the path of the political modernisation system.

Khasawneh noted that the upcoming parliamentary elections would be "the first stations for implementing political modernisation system.

Minister of Modernisation of the Public Sector Nasser Shraideh said that the roadmap for reforming the public sector has drawn up reform programmes, including developing the capabilities of its employees and the Civil Service Bureau (CSB).

Shraideh said that the next phase would witness a new human resources system that focuses on administrative practices in the private sector and that hiring would be merit-based.

He added that job seekers prefer the public sector over the private sector because it offers job security, complaining about the inability to accommodate the "large numbers" of job seekers.

He noted that the private sector would absorb more job seekers.

He discussed the "importance" of developing the capabilities of public servants and providing them with the necessary skills to keep pace with future developments.

Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hananda said Jordanians "are aware and educated," adding that the government is working to empower institutions in the public and private sectors, complete digital transformation and contribute to raising economic growth.

Minister of Labour Yousef Shamali discussed the investment opportunities in the southern governorates and the facilities and incentives provided to investors in the industrial cities of Tafila and Karak.

Shamali said the vision of economic modernisation seeks to provide one million job opportunities during its implementation since unemployment rates, according to Shamali, exceeded 22 per cent.

Minister of Investment Kholoud Saqqaf said the government "is keen" to enhance the investment environment and prepare it to bring in more foreign.
