Jordanian Ambassador to Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova, Sufian Qudah, discussed with Chairman and members of Board of Directors of Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), ways to strengthen trade relations between Jordan and those three countries, stressing importance of exchanging trade delegations's visits to learn about investment opportunities and increase commercial exchange.

Moreover, the two sides discussed role of Jordanian embassy in Bucharest to arrange a visit of a Jordanian economic delegation during the next two months to those three countries and providing a database on their current opportunities to achieve Jordan's food security.

The two sides said this step is realized by leasing or acquiring agricultural lands and exploiting them, which would guarantee provision of food at "affordable" prices and quantities needed by Jordan's local market, and transfer expertise from those countries to the Kingdom in the agriculture field.

Hajj Tawfiq expressed Jordanian commercial sector's desire in its various sectors to develop its economic, investment and trade relations with Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova.

Jordan, he noted, is an "important" platform for launching global trade for the region's countries, as the Kingdom is the most "stable and secure nation" regionally.

Moreover, Hajj Tawfiq stressed need to benefit from Jordan's free trade agreements signed with a number of countries and economic blocs, which allow the Kingdom to export various duty-free Jordanian manufactured products.

Haj Tawfiq noted Jordan is "rich" of multiple investment opportunities with high added value, primarily in the sectors of information and telecom technology (ITT), logistical services, tourism, industry, agriculture, health, energy, renewable energy, medical tourism, mining and food industries.

For his part, Qudah said Jordan's private sector is the "backbone" of the national economy, pointing to need to achieve His Majesty King Abdullah II's vision in achieving the Kingdom's food security as part of national security.

Qudah also said Jordan should become a regional hub for food, to be a center for storing Romanian wheat products , which would then be distributed to other countries, adding that future step would in this regard contribute to making Jordan a "complete" food security center.

He said action to achieve food security requires provision of the "appropriate" infrastructure an environment, and "effective and true" partnership between Jordan's public and private sectors.

In addition, he stressed readiness to "fully" cooperate with Amman Chamber of Commerce to provide services that would facilitate efforts made by Jordan and Romania to make business.

According to an ACC statement on Saturday, discussions went over need to increase Romanian investments in the Kingdom, which are currently considered "modest," especially since Jordan has an "attractive" investment environment.

Talks also noted Jordan's "distinguished" location can be invested to be a hub for storing and re-exporting Romanian products to the region's countries, especially wheat, in which Romania can be made a center for re-exporting Jordanian products, such as fertilizers, to the Balkan countries, the statement said.

ACC Chairman, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, said the chamber will work in coordination with Jordanian Embassy in Bucharest to open a "new" phase of commercial relations, hold joint exhibitions, exchange delegations, provide job opportunities in those countries and export Jordanian competencies to work in several fields, especially in the information technology sector.
