Ammon News - Jordan's permanent representative to the UN Security Council, Ambassador Mahmoud Al Hmoud confirms the importance of the role of the Council and other UN bodies in establishing clear guidelines to ensure that evacuation of UN personnel in response to outbreaks of hostilities in a manner that endangers the protection and wellbeing of civilians.

Hmoud condemns the illegal Israeli punitive measures carried out against protected locals, primary civilian infrastructure, and the environment in the occupied Palestinian land, that includes illegal water consumption.

He also stressed that both conflicting parties must respect rules of the international humanitarian law applicable to the protection of civilians and the environment.

This came during Jordan’s participation in the security council panel discussion under the chairmanship of the Swiss Confederation president on the protection of civilians in conflict.
