Parliament Speaker stresses cooperation with Azeri legislature

Ammon News - Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Ahmad Safadi highlighted the commitment to maintaining a strong, ongoing relationship between the Parliaments of Jordan and Azerbaijan, working together to foster mutual benefits and enhance the partnership between the two nations.

A statement released on Wednesday detailed Safadi's meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which he expressed the Jordanian people's gratitude towards the Azerbaijani people and their shared vision for increased collaboration and consultation to serve common interests.

In response, President Aliyev acknowledged his appreciation for Jordan's efforts to promote peace, security, and stability in the region while emphasizing the deep, bilateral ties between both countries.

The Azerbaijani leader also spoke fondly of his close relationship with King Abdullah II and their frequent communication, expressing his delight at Jordan's upcoming Independence Day celebrations and the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II.

Furthermore, President Aliyev stressed the importance of cohesive coordination between the parliaments of the two nations, highlighting the vast potential for collaboration in areas such as economic exchange, tourism, food industries, and access to international markets.

He noted the benefits that both countries enjoy from multiple free trade agreements.

Safadi's visit to Azerbaijan, prompted by an invitation from his Azerbaijani counterpart, included a speech at the Parliament's headquarters commemorating the centenary of the birth of the late President Heydar Aliyev.
