Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Customers of 'Orange' Telecommunications Company voiced their frustration at the poor and discontinuous connection of the company's Internet service.
Residents of Jabal Amman and West Amman districts told 'Ammon News' that the service continues to get worse with poor and slow connections, noting that they were surprised that the service was completely out from Friday morning until Saturday afternoon.
During this time, the new head of Jordan’s ‘Telecommunications sector Regulatory Commission’ remained out of the country to complete terminating his contract with a cellular communications company in a neighboring country before officially taking his post.
An official at 'Orange' who wished not to disclose his name said that the Internet service is experiencing technical disturbances, adding that the company is working to resolve the problem 'in the next few hours' (Saturday evening).
Subscribing customers to the high-speed Internet connection, and despite paying rather expensive monthly rates, expressed their frustration to 'Ammon News,' citing that the company is not carrying out its responsibilities towards its customers.
Student Muhammad Shalabi called on 'Orange' to compensate customers for the lost time spent under continuous disconnection of the internet despite paying his bills.
Shalabi told 'Ammon News' correspondent that he was extremely frustrated at the absence of Internet service at the time that the revised Tawjihi (Secondary School Certificate Exam) results were announced Saturday afternoon.
Amal Ahmad, who lives in West Amman, said 'it is time to learn of the role that the Telecommunications Sector Regulatory Commission and the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology must play when it comes to poor services under such conditions.
Amal questioned why the company didn't take concerned measures to guarantee adequate Internet connection at the time Tawjihi results were announced, adding 'we have the right as customers to get response to our inquiries when service is disconnected.'
