FM participates in Arab ministerial consultative meeting in Jeddah

Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, took part on Friday evening in an Arab consultative meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which saw participation of Egypt, Iraq and countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The informal meeting, held at invitation of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Ben Farhan, discussed ways to enhance joint Arab action in facing common challenges and addressing Arab crises, with focus on the Palestinian cause and efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis.

Addressing Arab FMs, Safadi thanked Saudi FM for hosting the brotherly meeting, which allowed for an "in-depth and fruitful" dialogue on Arab issues, and reflected consensus in the two kingdoms' visions on the Palestinian issue.

The meeting, Safdai added, stressed the need to confront illegal Israeli measures that undermine chances of achieving peace and fuel violence and tension, and also highlighted need to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis with a leading Arab role.

Safadi valued Saudi Arabia's efforts in promoting joint Arab action to serve Arab causes.

On the sidelines of the consultative meeting, Safadi and Prince Faisal held bilateral talks that emphasized the "deep-rooted, strategic brotherly" Jordanian-Saudi relations and continued work on developing them in implementation of directives of the kingdoms' leaderships, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

The two ministers also affirmed the continued coordination and consultation regarding regional challenges and Arab issues.

Safadi also met on the sidelines of the meeting with his Arab counterparts and discussed with them bilateral relations and Arab issues.
