Ammon News - Jordan is participating in the 18th edition of SIAL Canada, the largest Canadian agri-food industry fair, which will open in Toronto on May 9th.
Through the Jordan Exporters Association (JEA), major Jordanian industrial companies specialized in Arabic sweets, spices, thyme, nuts, and coffee will partake in the event, said a JEA statement on Tuesday.
Ahmad Khudari, JEA President, said the exhibition is an opportunity for Jordanian companies to team up with new trading partners, especially those with which Jordan has free trade agreements.
He added that SIAL is a prominent international food expo in North America that will see a sizeable global turnout of food vendors.
The JEA is organizing Jordan's participation in the 3-day conference for the tenth consecutive time due to its significant role in promoting Jordanian food products, which achieved high quality and competitiveness, said JEA Director General Halim Abu Rahma.
Jordan and Canada signed a free trade agreement in 2009 and entered into force in 2012 as the first free trade agreement signed by Canada with an Arab country.
Trade between the two countries amounted to JD116 million in 2022, of which JD80 million were exports to Canada, varying between textile materials, machinery, electrical equipment, and food and plant products.
