Ammon News - Secretary-General of Ministry of Tourism, Imad Hijazin, said Jordan's tourism sector is a "key" industry that supports national economy, and a "major" contributor to providing job opportunities for Jordanians and empowering local communities.

Hijazin's remarks were made during his meeting on Monday, with a delegation from Kenya National Defence College, who are scheduled to visit multiple tourist and archaeological sites during their visit to the Kingdom.

According to a ministry statement, Hijazin reviewed its tasks and its responsibility over all tourism activities, and roles of entities under its umbrella, primarily Department of Antiquities (DoA), which is tasked with preserving Jordan's archaeological and heritage sites and Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) that is entrusted with promoting tourist and archaeological attractions locally and internationally.

Hijazin also referred to the National Tourism Strategy for 2021-2025, which features 5 main axes focusing on tourist product growth, human resources development, marketing, heritage management and protection, and reforms.

Jordan, he noted, enjoys a "diverse and unique" tourist product that satisfies all tastes, adding that the Kingdom provides multiple religious, cultural, therapeutic, adventure types of tourism.

Meanwhile, the delegation expressed admiration for Jordan's "advanced" infrastructure, its "attractive" natural landscape and "distinguished" tourist and archaeological sites.
