Ammon News - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced that the UN Security Council will hold an emergency closed session on Thursday, at the request of Jordan and Palestine to discuss Israeli violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Jordanian-Palestinian request was made with the support of the United Arab Emirates and China, the ministry said in a tweet on its official Twitter account.
Earlier today, Jordan called, in coordination with Palestine and Egypt, in its capacity as chair of the 159th regular session of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level, for an emergency meeting of the Arab League at the level of permanent delegates, in light of the developments taking place in the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif , following storming the Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif yesterday by the Israeli occupation police, violating it and assaulting those who were inside.
The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the continuation of movement at the Arab level within series of procedures, communications and coordination undertaken by the Kingdom, to stop the Israeli attacks, which constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, and an unacceptable and condemned act aimed at changing the historical and legal situation in Jerusalem and its holy sites.
The ministry had condemned in the strongest terms storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif by the Israeli occupation police and violating it and assaulting worshipers inside of it, saying it was a flagrant violation, and a condemned and rejected act, demanding Israel, as the occupying power, to stop its violations of international humanitarian law and stop all actions aimed at changing the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its holy sites.
The ministry's spokesperson warned of the consequences of this dangerous escalation, and held Israel responsible for the safety of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif and the worshipers.
