Ammon News - The value of exports by firms and industries registered with the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) picked up by 44.7 percent in the first quarter of 2023 to a total of JD285 million.
According to figures published Wednesday by the ACC, the value of exports in the same period of 2022 stood at JD197 million.
In addition to the increase in exports, the Chamber granted 21.6 percent more certificates of origin during the first quarter of this year, reaching 6171 certificates as opposed to 5075 certifications during the same period last year.
The majority of the certificates of origin issued by the Chamber over the aforementioned period went to Saudi Arabia with 1134 certificates, followed by the UAE with 836 certificates, Iraq with 483 certifications, Egypt with 217 certificates, and Switzerland with 5 certificates.
Breaking down the data, the Chamber indicated that Iraq was the primary market for exports in terms of value, accounting for JD117 million, followed by Switzerland with JD42 million, the UAE with JD26 million, Egypt with JD24 million, and Saudi Arabia with JD17 million.
The Chamber's exports between January and March were split between foreign products (re-exports) at JD142 million, industrial products at JD30 million, agricultural products at JD25 million, and Arab commodities at JD29 million, with the remaining exports going to various products.
In accordance with strict guidelines, the Chamber issues certificates of origin for Jordanian agricultural, animal, and raw natural resource products as well as for re-imported and locally bought foreign commodities.
