Ammon News - A 6.2-magnitude quake Tuesday struck the eastern coast of the Philippines, prompting the authorities to urge residents of nearby coastal areas to leave due to the risk of a tsunami, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The USGS said the quake occurred at a depth of 15 km and about 120 km from Cataduanes Island off the coast of Luzon, the main island in the archipelago.
The National Seismological Agency warned that tsunamis, more than one meter in height above the normal tidal waves, would hit the islands of Catanduanes and Samar, According to the Agence France-Presse.
