Ammon News - The National Society of Consumer Protection (NSCP) on Sunday urged the Ministry of Agriculture to suspend cucumber exports and allow for lemon imports citing price hikes and constrained supply in local markets in the first days of Ramadan.
NSCP Chairman Muhammad Obeidat said in a statement that some vegetables saw "unwarranted" price hikes driven by higher demand and "traders' profiteering".
He stressed that allowing the import of some agro produce varieties can help rein in prices and satisfy demand.
