2 killed in S. Korea's helicopter crash

Ammon News - Two people were killed as a civilian helicopter crashed in east South Korea on Wednesday, the country's Yonhap News Agency reported.

The helicopter crashed into the hillside in the eastern town of Yeongwol, about 140 km east of Seoul, at around 7:46 a.m. local time.

Two people aboard the helicopter - a 65-year-old pilot and a 51-year-old freight company official - were taken to hospital in cardiac arrest and were confirmed dead later.

No secondary damages, such as fire caused by the crash, were reported.

According to the police, the helicopter was believed to have been caught on a transmission line while transporting electric wires for the construction of a transmission tower.

The exact cause of the accident was under investigation.
