Ammon News - AMMAN The value of the Kingdom's pharmaceutical exports in 2009 stood at JD440 million compared with JD382 million in 2008.
Secretary General of the Jordanian Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (JAPM), Hanan Sboul, told Petra that Saudi Arabia and Algeria were the major markets for the Jordanian pharmaceuticals, adding local manufacturers exported 80 percent of their production to 60 Arab and foreign countries.
Sboul noted that there are 16 pharmaceutical manufacturers with capital around JD500 million, noting the sector had created jobs 5,300 people.
She pointed that Jordanian pharmaceuticals have an access to the US market after a Jordanian company was approved by the American authorities.
Jordanian manufacturers are looking to further expanding their exports to potential markets especially, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and African countries, Sboul added.
