EU welcomes Aqaba meeting, appreciates Jordan's role

Ammon News - The European Union (EU) has welcomed a meeting that took place on Sunday in Aqaba and expressed its appreciation for Jordan's role to reviving the peace process, stressing its solid stance in support of the two-state solution.

The European Union's spokesperson for the Middle East, Luis Bueno, told Al Mamlaka TV that the EU appreciates Jordan's efforts in coordination with other parties and welcomes any initiative to end violence and reduce escalation.

He pointed out that "the EU opposes any unilateral measures that impede peace, including Israel's construction of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories."

The Palestinian and Israeli sides expressed their joint readiness and commitment to immediate action to stop unilateral measures for a period ranging between 3-6 months. This was during the Aqaba meeting, which brought together Palestinian and Israeli security officials.
