Ammon News - The Israeli political analyst Yoni Ben Menachem, said that the occupation will aim to make agreements with the Palestinian Authority at the meeting in Aqaba that will temporarily suspend settlement expansion in return for delaying a UN Security Council discussion on Israeli illegal settlements.
In an article on the Hebrew "News 1" website, Ben Menachem said that the Security Council's discussion of the issue might result in a resolution criticizing Israel for escalating settlement expansion.
He said the Aqaba summit seeks to create peace especially before the holy month of Ramadan.
The summit comes after full coordination with the Palestinians and a continuation of Jordan's efforts to reach security and economic measures, according to the Hebrew website.
The meeting is a success for Jordan as the two parties will reach to agreements that will stop the escalation, as well as confirming that there is significant international interest in this meeting.
