Ammon News - Senate Speaker, Faisal Fayez, said His Majesty King Abdullah II attaches "great" importance to Jordan's youth, based on their capability to bring about positive change to face challenges.

Fayez made the remarks on Thursday at the launching ceremony of "Empowering Youth Leaders in Jordanian Badia Communities" project, which is implemented by Thuraya Studies Center, in partnership with Australian Embassy in Amman.

Fayez referred to a clear political decision by His Majesty King Abdullah II to empower youth and enhance their role in society to become partners in building the country's future.

To achieve the Royal vision in this regard, he said youth empowerment requires the necessary tools to enhance their role, build their capacities and refine their talents to make the required change in their economic and living conditions, raise awareness on national issues and challenges, and expand their participation in public life.

In addition, he stressed the need to provide youth with an "appropriate" economic and developmental environment to face unemployment challenges and help unleash their creativity and leadership prospects.

For his part, Australian Ambassador to Amman, Bernard Lynch, said the project aims to invest in youth and enhance their role in the field of local policies and partnership, which facilitates change in image of Badia youth and contributes to creating a generation of local youth leaders.

The project, he noted, comes in response to the King's directives to pay attention to youth and enhance their participation in Jordan's political life.
