Ammon News - Secretary-General of Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA), Abdullah Kanaan, said supporting Hashemite custodianship and promoting related media efforts are two main pillars for defending Jerusalem.
Kanaan, in a statement on Thursday, said the continued daily Israeli violations and crimes against Jerusalem's residents, land, and sanctities requires expedited action by world and regional organizations to expose Israel's colonial practices and strengthen steadfastness of the Palestinian people.
This concerted effort aims to help Palestinians shape their destiny, restore freedom, and establish a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, he pointed out.
He noted "historical" Hashemite guardianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites enjoys Arab, Islamic and international support, most notably the resolution issued by Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in its extraordinary meeting recently held.
Lauding OIC's decision to affirm Hashemite custodianship, and other related international positions, he stressed need to strengthen and develop Arab, Islamic and world media institutions concerned with Jerusalem and Palestine in all languages, including Hebrew.
In addition, Kanaan referred to Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's recent break-in into Al-Aqsa Mosque and Tel Aviv government's legislation of racist laws aimed to undermine rights of prisoners and detainees and support settlement, which requires global efforts to support Hashemite custodianship.
Kanaan said RCJA stresses need to beef up media activities in exposing Israeli crimes and supporting Palestinians' rights, calling on support for its continuous efforts to preserve Jerusalem and its sanctities to face fierce Jewish settlement aggression.
Jordan, he noted, will maintain its support Palestinian people and Jerusalem.
