Ammon News - The Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) Wednesday organized the Jordanian-Bahraini Business Forum in Bahrain's capital, Manama, to increase the volume of trade exchange, discuss means of enhancing cooperation, and showcase investment opportunities in the two countries.

During the opening of the forum, the JCI's President Fathi Jaghbir underlined the need to set in motion a new phase of "constructive cooperation" and move towards broader horizons of the strategic partnership to enhance joint Arab action and generate economic integration in light of the common challenges facing the Arab world, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, to achieve food and economic security.

Jaghbir pointed out, according to a JCI statement Thursday, the depth of the Jordanian-Bahraini relations, stressing the role of the private sector in both countries as a driver of the economy and a magnet for foreign investments.

He described the level of trade exchange between Jordan and Bahrain as "below aspirations," amounting to less than $300 million, or less than 1 percent of the overall trade volume.

For his part, the President of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Samir Abdullah Nass said the Jordanian- Bahraini relations were cemented thanks to the visions and efforts of the two countries' leaders, pointing to the ongoing work to develop cooperation and leverage the available opportunities.

He said he was looking forward to meetings that will take place on the sidelines of the forum between businessmen from the trade and industrial sectors in both countries, underscoring the JCI's role in highlighting the available investment opportunities, exchanging experiences and expertise in trade, and expanding cooperation between the trade sectors to serve the two countries.
