EMRC: 1.5 mln register on e-platform for electricity subsidy

Ammon News - The media spokesperson for the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC), Dr. Tahrir Al-Qaq, said that the pace of registration on the electric tariff subsidy platform has decreased compared to the beginning of the platform’s launch.”

She indicated that the number of subscribers currently exceeds 1.5 million, noting that the platform is available for registration.

In another context, Al-Qaq stressed the need to rationalize the consumption of electric energy in the current weather conditions.

The Commission began in last April applying a new electric tariff that reduced the tariff for the main economic sectors such as the commercial, industrial, hotel, agricultural and health sectors, and that consumers in the domestic sector covered by the subsidized electric tariff were not affected by any increase if the amount of consumption was less than 600 kilowatts/ Hour.

Al-Qaq said: “Electric heaters are among the devices that consume the most electrical energy for the least benefit, while the use of air conditioners for heating may be less consuming electricity if its consumption is adjusted to appropriate levels.”

She also pointed out that the “tank water heaters” consume more electrical energy due to the lower water temperature compared to the summer months, and their frequent use increases the bill.
