Water Minister Mohammad Najjar, who inked the deal with KFW Amman office director Mark Schwiete, said the project will pump some 10 million cubic meters of water annually to 300,000 people and help reduce water loss and energy costs, according to Najjar. He said the water sector and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation are seeking more funding for new water projects that boost the efficiency of water services "in light of the exceptional circumstances and mounting challenges." The project will supply additional drinking water to several regions and irrigation water to the Jordan Valley, said the minister. He commended Germany's support, which will significantly contribute to the ministry's plans to address various challenges.
