Carrying Out the Noncombatant Evacuation Operation Training

Ammon News - From December 7th to 14th, the Noncombatant Evacuation Operation training of the Ministry of Defense of Japan (MOD) , Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA), namely Furnace Darter, was held with the support and cooperation from Jordan Armed Forces.
The purposes of this training is to train actions concerning Rescue of Japanese Nationals Overseas and to enhance coordination between SDF and MOFA. This training was carried out for the first time in the Middle East.
On 13th and 14th, the training was conducted at the KASOTC under the scenario in which Rescue of Japanese Nationals Overseas was executed in a country, and Japanese nationals in Jordan participated in it.
They were involved in the training ranging from assembly at safe havens to departure from a country by transportation aircrafts of Japan Self-Defense Forces. The training successfully concluded with great support from Jordan Armed Forces in the realm of logistical support, including transport support and the use of military facilities.
On 13th, Ambassador OKUYAMA Jiro observed this training with Brig. General Abdallah Shdaifat, Chairman Assistant of Operation and Training of Jordan Armed Forces, and expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation of Jordan Armed Forces in realizing the first Noncombatant Evacuation Operation training.
Brig. General Shdaifat emphasized his keenness on strengthening the bilateral defense cooperation in different fields.
