Ammon News - Senate President Faisal Fayez met on Monday with Chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi and an accompanying delegation.

Fayez noted the "brotherly" and deep-rooted relations with Yemen, and said Jordan, upon directives by His Majesty King Abdullah II, is keen on further cementing ties based on mutual respect and a common interest to develop and advance cooperation in various fields.

He said Jordan stands by Yemen and its legitimate government and supports all Arab and international efforts to restore security and stability to the country, safeguard its territorial integrity and end the suffering of its people.

Jordan, he added, underlines a political solution to the Yemeni crisis based on the Gulf Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, rejects Iranian interference in Yemen’s affairs and calls for adhering to the truce, especially opening roads and safe passages to Taiz.

"We in Jordan, under the directives of His Majesty the King, put all our resources at the disposal of the legitimate Yemeni government, to help it overcome challenges and achieve security, stability and the unity of its people," he said.

For his part, Al-Alimi noted the deep relations, and thanked Jordan's support of the legitimate Yemini government and the Kingdom's hosting of Yemeni people.

He stressed the importance of strengthening political, economic and security relations, adding that Jordan and Yemen agreed on the need to operate Yemeni Airlines flights from Houthi-controlled areas, blaming the Iranian-backed militia for exacerbating the crisis by rejecting the renewal of the truce and attacking oil and other vital installations.
