Three eggs were thrown, witnesses said. The man was heard to shout “this country was built on the blood of slaves” as he was being detained by around four police officers. Ammon News - A man has been detained after throwing eggs at King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla in York.

The royals were not hit by the three eggs, thrown as they walked along the Micklegate Bar area of the city.

There was a large crowd in the city for the royal trip.

Three eggs were thrown, witnesses said.

The man was heard to shout “this country was built on the blood of slaves” as he was being detained by around four police officers.

Other people in the crowd started chanting “God save the King” and “shame on you” at the protester.
