Swedish Queen introduced to addiction-prevention initiative

Ammon News - Queen Silvia of Sweden visited a local school in Amman on Tuesday to take a firsthand look at the Generations Protected (Tahseen) initiative carried out by the Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) in collaboration with the Education Ministry and Mentor Arabia.

The initiative aims at protecting the youth from the harmful effects of smoking and drug addictions and contributing to the healthy upbringing of future
generations. It conducts skill acquisition programs targeting age groups at schools and youth centers.

In remarks welcoming the Queen, Education Minister Wajih Owais said his ministry is committed to providing awareness programs for school students and attaches great importance to physical and mental health.

Queen Silvia toured the school's classrooms and participated in a dialogue with students and parents.

The RHAS is one of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah's initiatives that seeks to spread health awareness and enable the local community to adhere to positive health behaviors.
