Princess Basma opens Mabarrat Um Al Hussein's diplomatic bazaar

Ammon News - HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal on Saturday opened the 58th Annual International Diplomatic Bazaar of the Mabarrat Um Al Hussein Institute, the proceeds of which are used solely to provide for the institute's children.

The bazaar at Al-Hussein Youth City is a forum for diplomatic bodies in Jordan and a humanitarian event that reflects the values of solidarity and human solidarity to aid the institute and allow it to carry out its duty towards the targeted groups of children (aged 6 to 18) in the Marka area to the east of the capital, Amman.

The bazaar also serves as a forum for cultural and civilized exchange between nations, with an emphasis on the shared human values that unite all nations and peoples.

Approximately 30 diplomatic missions in the Kingdom took part in the bazaar, displaying a variety of products representing their countries' civilizations and cultures, such as textiles, antiques, crafts, ceramics, handicrafts, and food items.

In her opening remarks, HRH Princess Basma bint Talal stated that the ultimate purpose of the diplomatic bazaar is to assist the children of the Mabarrat Um Al Hussein Institute by preparing and empowering them to become successful and engaged members of society.

She emphasized that the bazaar is a symbol of social and international solidarity and an event where participants from diplomatic missions gather to do charity work, reflecting the human values that everyone aims to uphold, preserve, and pass on from one generation to the next.

Her Highness commended the diplomatic missions' dedication in attending the bazaar each year and expressing their long-lasting and fruitful partnership with the institute and its children, highlighting how the bazaar is a significant occasion to celebrate the various cultures, goods, and cuisines of nations and their peoples.

Princess Basma expressed her gratitude and appreciation to all of the missions and supporting organizations that participated in the bazaar, as well as the supporters of the virtual bazaar that was held over the previous two years.

In a speech delivered on behalf of foreign diplomatic corps in Jordan, Bahrain's ambassador in Amman, Ahmed bin Yousef Al-Ruwai'i, emphasized the significance of this annual charity event for the children of the Mabarrat Um Al Hussein Institute.

He stated that the bazaar's return after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic demonstrates the diplomatic bodies' commitment to their social responsibility to support the bazaar in a manner that reflects the civilized and cultural convergence of nations and peoples.

In turn, Mabarrat Um Al Hussein Institute Director Zina Karaki spoke about the organization's mission to foster a generation of young people who are confident in their abilities, aware of their rights and responsibilities, and motivated to pursue their hopes, dreams, and goals.

She explained that the organization's goal is to serve as a role model by providing a stable and secure family environment for orphans and children who have been victims of family breakdown and who have no family ties.

She said the institute's goal is to become more of a community hub, especially for women and girls, and to offer more forms of training and education, particularly in the areas of digital literacy, computer and digital skills.

Mabarrat Um Al Hussein was established in 1958, by her late Majesty Queen Zein Al Sharaf, as a learning and care institution for boys living in hardship. TheMabarrat is located in Marka Shamaliyeh, north Amman. Over the years, generations of boys from urban and rural backgrounds have grown up at the Mabarrat and come to think of it as home.
