Jordan participates in annual meetings of IMF and World Bank

Ammon News - The activities of the annual meetings of the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group begin on Monday, and will continue until October 16.

The meetings will be attended by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Al-Shraideh, Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Assis, and Central Bank Governor Adel Sharkas. Funding to enable Jordan to implement the vision.

The economic team will hold a series of meetings on the sidelines of the annual meetings with a large number of donors and funding agencies to discuss the government's programs for bilateral aid.

The annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group Boards of Governors bring together central bank governors, ministers of finance and development, parliamentarians, senior officials from the private sector, representatives of civil society organizations, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the global economic outlook, poverty eradication, and economic development aid effectiveness.

It also holds seminars, regional briefings, press conferences and many other events focusing on the global economy, international development and the global financial system.

The meetings will discuss 4 main themes; It is inclusive growth, the human cost of the food and fuel crisis, investment in education, investment in the planet.

The Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group usually meet once a year to discuss the work of each institution. The annual meetings, generally organized in September-October, have been held in Washington for two consecutive years and in a member country in the third year.

The inaugural meeting of the two Boards of Governors was held in Savannah, Georgia, in March of 1946, and the first annual meetings were held in Washington the same year.
