Ammon News - The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Eng. Bassam Al-Sarhan, headed the Jordanian delegation participating in the activities of the Plenipotentiary Conference, which is being held by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in the Romanian capital Bucharest during the period from September 26 to October 14, under the slogan Connecting Communities, with wide participation from Heads of global regulators and global ICT industry companies.
The conference is the most important event for the official members of the ITU. It represents the supreme body of the Union responsible for reviewing the Union’s constitution and agreement, making decisions related to setting general policies, approving strategic and financial plans, in addition to electing the top management represented by the Secretary-General and his deputy, directors of key sectors, member states of the Council and members of the Radio Regulations committees, Al-Sarhan said.
Al-Sarhan held several meetings with the heads and representatives of the participating delegations with the aim of exchanging experiences and knowledge, benefiting from international practices in regulating the telecommunications sector, and transferring the Jordanian experience in this field and how to deal with all issues related to the telecommunications and information technology sector.
Orange Jordan participated in the work of the conference within the Jordanian delegation, represented by the Executive Director of Legal Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Harb. It also sponsored the reception hosted by the Jordanian delegation participating in the activities, which was attended by the heads of the participating delegations and representatives of the telecommunications industry companies, and the Jordanian ambassador in Bucharest.
It is noteworthy that the work of the conference, which is held every four years, will focus on contributions related to reviewing the decisions of the previous conference, and adopting new decisions based on the results of the work of the Telecommunication Development Conference and the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA).
