Ammon News - Korean Ambassador Lee Jae-wan to Amman, said that Jordan is currently Korea's second largest development partner in the Middle East and North Africa region.

In a speech delivered during a ceremony organized by the Korean Embassy in Amman, Tuesday, on the occasion of the Korean National Foundation Day, he stressed that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Jordan, as the two countries developed into a strategic and lasting partnership, rooted in friendship and mutual respect for decades.

Since 1974, many Korean companies have invested in Jordan, using their advanced expertise to contribute to accomplishing Jordan's national tasks represented in establishing basic forms of infrastructure, he pointed.

He added that Jordan is a gateway for Samsung and LG in their businesses in the Levant region, noting that one out of every three cars used in Amman is Hyundai or Kia.

He said that trade exchange is steadily increasing, after it recovered to pre-Covid-19 levels, as Jordan's exports to Korea last year exceeded $100 million for the first time in the history of its trade.

He announced that the Korean Embassy will hold a joint symposium on the Fourth Industrial Revolution next month with the Jordanian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, which is a good opportunity to explore new areas of cooperation in the future.

Korea exchanges with Jordan its acquired knowledge and experiences on the path of social and economic development that it has taken, and we are keen to play a role in developing Jordan's capabilities, in a way that reflects the needs and priorities in Jordan's development strategy, he explained.
